Belkin WiFi Skype Phone Reviews
Gizmodo has a review up of the Belkin WiFi Skype phone and writes, “All in all, a pretty good Skype WiFi phone that actually looks nice enough to be carried around with you to work or to connect to WiFi hotspots around the city. Everything’s good in this phone including call quality, button feel, and wireless reception. I could walk around the entirety of my apartment and still hear pretty clearly.” Link.
Sci Fi Tech has a review of the Belkin WiFi Skype phone and writes, “Not only does this phone look basic, it is. Physically, it’s 4.5 x 2 x.75 inches, has a rubberized back for an easy grip, a tiny joystick on the front for menu navigation, a mini USB jack for charging, and a headphone minijack. All the keys are square but tiny and not backlit. Even though this phone is designed to connect to the Internet, there’s no Web browser of any kind —s VoIP calls only, please. … As a home extension to Skype, this phone is a great idea, giving you the freedom of a cordless phone or cell phone without any of the cost. Portable Skype, however, is simply not ready for prime time, especially since network availability is not as ubiquitous as cell networks.” Link.
ComputerActive has a review up of the Belkin WiFi phone, and writes, “Once up and running, it’s an easy phone to operate. You can search for new contacts, set your online Skype status, and easily make calls. Call clarity was okay – we experienced some voice break up, but this will also depend on the quality of broadband connection. … Our biggest criticism though is you can’t use this phone with a wireless hotspot that requires you to sign on via an internet browser, such as those used at Starbucks or many hotels. Belkin has signed a deal with the Cloud, allowing you to use its 8,500 European wireless hotspots, for £6.99 a month, but in the UK most of these are in pubs. However, if it finds an unsecured, free hotspot, then it will join that network.” Link.

PC Magazine has a review of the Belkin Wi-Fi Phone for Skype and writes, “The preloaded Skype interface, which closely resembled that of the Netgear phone, worked very well and much like Skype on a PC. For example, as soon as I signed on to the Skype network, I had access to all my contacts…Conveniently, the Belkin Wi-Fi Phone for Skype, like the Netgear unit, automatically remembered and reconnected to my preferred networks. Unfortunately, at this point the conveniences don’t outweigh the inconveniences.” Link.
